Our Story
I moved to Malta and quickly realised something: the island most tourists see is not the Malta I fell in love with.
The Blue Lagoon at noon, packed with hundreds of people. Valletta's main street lined with the same souvenir shops. Mdina overrun by tour groups following a flag. Malta has all of that — but it also has something else entirely.
Hidden coves you can only reach by boat. Villages where locals still gather in the square on Sunday evenings. A silence inside Mdina's walls at 7am that feels like stepping into another century. Food that has nothing to do with the tourist menus along the waterfront.
I started Hidden Gems Malta because I wanted to share that version of the island — the one you only find when you stop following the crowds and start following the locals.
Hidden Gems Malta organises authentic local experiences for travellers who want more than the standard tourist circuit. That includes private boat tours to the Blue Lagoon, Comino, and Gozo — but also recommendations, itinerary planning, restaurant tips, and whatever else you need to make the most of your time here.
Think of us as a local friend who happens to know Malta very well. Whether you need help planning your entire trip, want a private boat day with a flexible itinerary, or just have a question about where to eat in Valletta — we're here for all of it.
Beyond that, this site is a free travel guide built from real local knowledge: the best time to visit each place, the beaches worth the hike, the restaurants the guidebooks haven't found yet, and the honest answers to the questions every Malta visitor asks.
Malta is a small island, but it rewards curiosity. The best experiences here are rarely the most advertised ones — they're the ones you stumble upon, or the ones a local points you towards. That's what Hidden Gems Malta is built on: genuine local knowledge, shared honestly.
Whether you're planning your first visit or your fifth, I hope this site helps you find a side of Malta that surprises you.
